Local Music Fund
The music business is local, and live performance pay powers the music industry, but creator platforms are ineffective for finding and monetizing local music.
- 90.7% of all artists are undiscovered.
- 0.4% of YouTube channels get the bulk of views.
- 1,821,261 streams are needed to earn $1,257.67/mo. (minimum wage) on YouTube.
- 2% of Patreon users make more than the federal minimum wage.
The Local Music Fund is a pilot program to create equitable economic growth in local music. What is the program's purpose?
- Help local musicians get discovered.
- Compensate music workers with fair pay, living wages, and recurring income.
- Encourage studio recording studio production, video production, and live and online music events.
- Improve equal access for people of color and other underrepresented groups.
- Develop an infrastructure to support local music.
At Locals I Know, we're proud to be a part of the communities we serve and want to be involved, so let us know what's happening in your neighborhood, and we'll sponsor your event. Artists receive a 50% deposit via PayPal before an event and the balance before performing.
- DJs – Up to $800 for a 4-6 hour event.
- Musicians – Up to $400 per band member for original songs.
- Spoken Word Poets – Up to $100.
- Videographers – Up to $1,200 for video coverage and $2,500 for a 2-hour live stream.
- Live Streaming – Share live streams and exclusive content to earn a 40% monthly recurring income per viewer. That's a 500x higher payout rate than Spotify paid via PayPal on the first Friday of every month.
