Houston, Texas, joined the rest of the world in the March Against Monsanto and GMOs, which took place in 36 countries and over 250 cities. Dominick Hawkins, Jr. and Susie Hernandez organized Houston's peaceful protest, which started around 1:35 p.m. at the corner of Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd. The march began with one large crowd, but law enforcement fragmented it into smaller groups as it proceeded. I thought this was to manage traffic flow, but intended or not, it also reduced the impact of the protesters' message. The message of Houston’s March Against Monsanto is to stop the company from selling genetically engineered seeds, period, but at the very least, to require labels on all GMO products.
